Hand Forging a Bearded Axe

E-mail Print PDF

Blacksmith Dave Budd shows the process of hand-forging a Bearded Axe and then crafting the handle harvested from his woodland. This two part series was filmed on location in his workshop on the Northern edge of Dartmoor. Part 1 shows the forging of the axe head and the work that goes into that whilst part two covers the heat-treatment and handle making process as well as finishing the item.
