    You could always use fly tying feathers and then clear coat it.

    hello,
    Bump.. I'm thinking about creating a design or a name on my Hudson Bay tin. A fellow Bushcrafter has similar & has suggested maybe creating a Hudson Bay logo or some pattern from that era & adding a fictional date for authenticity. The Hudson Bay tins I have seen have some awesome designs engraved.

    I thought of this technique when reading your post...

    ...a bit like the scraperfoil stuff, you know what I mean?!

    The paint to cover it first can be acrylic or any metal paint ( ie: car scratch repair &#128521
    About three coats of it and a sealer as described here:

    I suppose you could cover the lid in 3coats of black acrylic paint and then stencil in a design of your choice followed by "scratching" out the stenciled design...
    Finishing off with the sealer to protect it...

    Or even just silhouette engravings (Google Fu &#128521 of lettering or design...








    Just an idea... hope it inspires.

    Intricate detail. I know someone with a computerised engraving machine who could possibly create such a design. Keeping it simple maybe just a logo, date & name.
