Helle Dokka, folding knife with scandi grind

Have any of you had your hands on one?

I have been drooling at pictures of it for a week, and started to put coinage in a jar to save up for one.

3.5" Curly Birch Handle. 4.6" Triple laminate stainless steel blade. 3.5" Closed length, are some of the features.

Here is a pic of the sexy little thing :-)

It looks very much like a slightly smaller version of the Helle Eggen.

It is a nice knife, but imho a bit bulky for a folder - without the strenght of a fixed blade knife.

For whitteling it is a great knife, but for the heavier bushcraft chores, I would never go for a folder.

So I guess that it is 1 - 1 for the Dokka right now! Not many have tested this knife since it was just released. We shipped the first batch to Germany, Russia and some to the US. Before that only pre production samples was sent out.

I have an Eggen and it's a good solid performer that holds an edge exceptionally well. I agree about the fixed blade versus folder thing, but if the build quality is as good as the Eggen, then this should be a really good folder, if a little bulky.

There is no point really in having a debate on fixed blade vs. folder when it comes to strength. A folder will always be a compromise, and I do not plan to use it as a crowbar, nor use it to chop firewood.
Not that I would put any of my good knives trough that anyway. That is why the cheap Mora knives exist...you can afford to break them.

Else a Helle Eggen is also high on the wish list. But the level of salivation dripping out of my mouth is higher when I think about the bigger GT, as I don't have a knife in that size, and the slot is taken by another knife :-)
