Trail Cameras; has anyone got one or had experience of running one?
What brands are worthwhile?
To be honest, the more I read about the things, the more confused I get

Hello. I've use the bushnells trailcam before. They're fairly straightforward to use, decent enough picture quality.
Good range of options; stills or footage, delay, etc.
I haven't used them in sub zero so can't speak to that.
One gripe... The batteries are in the door and can dislodge when closing or moving the unit. But a bit of gaffer tape keeps em in place.
hello happybonzo,
Bushnell as pootle suggests or Swann brand try your local Maplin electronics store for a demo.

David
Came across this website a few weeks ago - it might be of interest. Not bought anything from them, but it seems to have decent info.

hello,
A nice find Peaks. I've noted a few of these cameras being discovered & removed. I'm thinking of renewing or borrowing for next year a couple of Bushnells for a project I've been working on. Good luck with the hunt happybonzo.

David
Many thanks to everyone for your sensible suggestions.
I've since ordered from UK Wildlife Cameras; so far, their communication has been first rate.
It's to be an Xmas present for my daughter and son-in-law who live in Darkest Devon and they've got lots Badgers, Foxes, Tourists etc so it should give them some entertainment
The cheapest one - It's a gift and by the time you add on rechargeable batteries, chargers, memory cards etc, it all mounts up
Hopefully, the SinL will post some results but I'm not holding my breath
