    Autumn foraging

Just thought I'd share a few useful articles from a favourite publication of mine, as it's the time of the season.

It contains hundreds of other useful articles but for now , I'll just stick to foraging and Hedgerow medicine in the Autumn, as it's my favourite time of year and it's nearly here...

There's a few recipes there too.
    Enjoy!

    Cheers woody.
I've not read through them but looks like there may be some useful resources there. I reckon sloe gin could be the subject of a thread in its own right.

Very true, especially if you have a couple of glasses of last year's brew before posting

And here we are, Autumn is here and seems like summer flew by...

So today , after many failed attempts of finding chestnuts (old chestnut trees seem to produce the tiny shriveled kind) , we decided to try a new place.
I spotted a few young chestnut trees last year on one of the walks and took note...
Well this year it was loaded! 😎

Between me and the kids we got just over a couple of Kilos and the first batch is the oven as we speak.

The rest I'll do them outside , on the embers as they are much nicer that way.

The kids loved finding them, the dog wondered what on earth was going on , and whilst there I found another BIG stash of crampballs for FSK's and a few fallen branches of Birch and Ash, perfect for spoonage....

I'll go back another day to harvest them .

Brilliant , successful foraging afternoon with the little ones.
    👍

I can't wait to try these little gems...

Good haul! Lots of chestnut trees in my usual haunts but I've never found nuts of a usable size. I'll look out for some younger trees from now on.
