First dartmoor trip

I'm currently packing for two nights / three days on dartmoor with my brother. Not really explored the moors at all so very exited. We've marked an area on the map to explore and camp.
Now I'm staring at a pile of kit on the floor trying to whittle it down to what I actually need!

have a good one! and take some photos for us! your trying to stay as light as you can? or taking alot of stuff? what kit did you go for in the end?

Not aiming to be as light as possible, as I won't be walking a huge distance. But my pack is 70l and it's full.
I'm hammocking so that's fairly light to start with.
The main difficulty is leaving the axe. Won't need to process firewood so I don't really need it but it was a recent pressie and I've not really put it through its paces yet.

Just Checking my compass and the damn thing's smashed. So that will restrict explorations further. Let's hope the fog doesn't come down too hard!

You are going to Dartmoor for a few days? I would ditch the axe and buy a new compass.

You really don't need 70l for a couple of days on Dartmoor. You have waaaaaaaay overpacked there.

Have a great weekend.....oh and don't forget the waterproofs, actually having seen the forecast, I would go for several sets of waterproofs, Dartmoor gets very very wet!

Yeah the axe isn't coming. Unfortunately no time or cassette replace the compass at this point but we're not venturing far so we'll make do with map and sight.

It was lashing down here , thunder lightning and even hailstone... !?!

Turned the 2pm sky dark as dusk and then just opened up...
They say the first time is always memorable, this should be no exception.
Bushcraft priority , build a survival raft out of available materials to make it out alive ...
