If you were invited to contribute just one thing to a museum, what would it be?
It can be a public thing or a private thing. A thing that's already in a museum, a thing sitting in your shed, a thing we take for granted. Or the kind of thing that is only found in a romantic's heart.
Whatever.
Feel free to be as flippant or as serious as you like.
Let's see what kind of museum we can come up with...

It's the perfect place for my "roudtwit".
It's perfectly round and its quite small.
It was given to me as a present by my lovely mrs, because every time she asks me about the huge list of jobs, I tend to say :
" I was gonna do it , but I didn't get around to it..."
I think she fancies herself as a bit of a comedian...
Anyways , I'll post a picture when I get around to it...

My more practical contribution would be an axe or an axe head...or a crosscut saw. It was timber which drove the economy in New England for so long (and still does, but to a lesser extent) in the colonial days, and timber that made made life possible for settlers as far north as Maine and as far south as the southern Appalachians.

One for me has local connections. Sunderland as most of you will be aware was a shipbuilding/mining community and my dad (and his dad and his dad and his dad and so on) worked in a shipyard. To commemorate the 100th SD14 ship built on the river wear all of the shipwrights that worked on it got a perfect to scale steel model of the ship. Its around 6 inches long and now has a nice patina and has sat on his mantlepiece for years. There aren't too many of them about and I think they're a great curio for industrial history, shame Sunderland museum doesn't have one, but nobody that has one will part with it!

Good thread idea.
I'd put my first camera in there. It's a Practika LTL, an old 35mm slr built in East Germany. I got it for my 13th birthday and it was about 25yrs old then. I haven't used it for years but whenever I stumble across it I wind it on and trigger the shutter, and it still works. Beautifully simple, rugged engineering and needs no batteries. I have no use for it but don't have the heart to get rid. So a museum would be perfect.
