    Burly Hedgehog

So I was out walking the other day when I came across a fallen birch tree, covered in little burly bits...
I got the folding saw out and cut a couple out and thought to myself , kuksa!

However , the more I looked at these bits of wood the more I thought... Hedgehog!

Anyways, theres more left on the tree , so I'll be going back to harvest the rest if no one else has already.

So , got the knives (mora bushy and a small knife out of the Gerber suspension tool ) out and here is my attempt at carving...

Nature did most of the work , I just shaped the head ...

    The kids like it...

Now he needs a name ...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for looking

    hello Woody,
Awesome piece of woodcraft Woody & I thought "Woody" you were a sparks (electrician) tee hee.. hmmm.. I was going to suggest "Roast.." the Hedgehog keeping with Bushcraft traditions. "Spike" "Turbo" boys names or a girlie name "Hazel" (same genus species of tree) "Tink" "Tinker" again the latter derives from ancient "Tink or Tinker" recipes of cooking hedgehog. I'm sorry mini Woody's or could be in reference to wood spirits "Tink or Tinker"?
    Regards
    David

Thanks David, I do like the name Spike.

    I am a Carpenter , not a sparky...

It's one of those things I really wanted to do for ages but never got around to it...

PS- sorry I told you I wasn't the sharpest tool... I get the joke now, sparks as in steel & flint sparks etc
I'm sorry David , slow on the uptake...

    hello Woody,
I better not mention thick as a plank then.. LMAO I am pulling your leg BTW. A "sparks" is the nickname for an electrician same as a joiner or carpenter being a "chippy". I've received an offer of carving into one of my walking sticks of a wood spirit by a non forum member the detail in such is outstanding. If these hedgehogs are heavy enough they would make great door stops. My mate used to make similar & "door" mouse stoppers. Keep at it..

I'm a chippie though... something tells me you knew that anyway.
