    Help please!

Wondered if anyone could five me advice on cleaning my Bergen day bag.
It's a karrimor sabre 35 and there are no care labels on the inside and the website doesn't really say anything about how to wash it.

Ive been using it as a EDC and to carry my lunch pack ...
However my salad has leaked and everything smells of vinegar ...

I have emptied it all and wiped clean but it still stinks...

Good job there are no bears and wolves around here...

    So...

Do you wash these in the washing machine, (I do have Granger's performance wash&repel detergent) ?

Do I just fill the bath with a load of Granger's and maybe diluted Milton fluid?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

I would wash it with normal detergent first, then wash it again with the grangers. Hope this helps

I use vinegar to remove smells, so I have no idea...
Now was that a helpfull comment or what!

But try filling the tub with water, leave it in there to soak with some fairy liquid, then scrub it.

I use vinegar to remove other smells too, its magic stuff...

but on this occasion I have to think out the box... maybe lemon juice as it's a natural antibacterial?

I don't want to ruin all the back and shoulder padding that is stitched in by putting it on washing machine....

    hello Woody,
I just read your dilemma.. as a British Forces Veteran I would suggest my Batman or Mess Steward in failing that the wife.. as in Mrs Woody LMAO. We used to scrub off the dirt from the webbing or Bergen with a scrubbing brush aka deck scrubber (dry) Yes pre-treatment with vinegar to remove some stains & odours, then into a tub or bath with soap flakes (no detergent) scrub with deck scrubber hang to dry. *If no soap flakes ECO non bio washing liquid (non scented). ECO washing liquid is excellent BTW. You could add the NEW anti bacterial Dettol washing liquid. I use these on my "Green Gear" stop colour fade etc.. treat once dry with Nikwax waterproof liquid spray.

Thanks everyone, that worked a treat.
Didn't use vinegar , as that was the main smell I wanted to get rid of, but I did use the ECOver washing stuff , as that's what Mrs Woody uses anyway...
So a shallow bath with the ECOver and some Granger's performance stuff,a nylon brush and some elbow grease did the trick .

It's a really comfortable Bergen , surprisingly spacious and I really didn't want to mess it up , so thank you all for your suggestions.

    Just need dry weather now...

    It was a salad...
    can you believe it???
A salad !!!...for my work lunch... I hardly ever eat anything like that, thought id be a nice change from the old sandwich and crisps... hot day and all.
Now not only my bag stank but...
.. my builder colleagues think something is wrong with me, being all healthy and stuff ," what's next exercise??, and on the wagon???"..
