sewing kit.

Pretty exciting topic here...
I was replacing a couple of buttons today. and it occurred to me that I've not carried a sewing kit in my day pack since I misplaced mine, probably a couple of years back now.
so I put one together whilst I had the stuff to hand.





there's a couple of pre threaded needles in a cotton wool pad with a few more needles.

and a threader with built in thread cutter.


plus a lighter with led light on it, a safety pin (ill add more but need to pick some up. And a spool of cotton thread. I can't think of anything else that might be worth putting in there. I always have my sak on me so that covers cutting etc.

Anything any of you carry for fabric repairs? I generally have some gaffer tape somewhere in my bag so I've not added any here.

Great idea. Don't forget dental floss for more heavy duty sewing. I've been told it doesn't rot which could be a bonus for certain repairs. Some people even us it for cleaning between their teeth! (what ever next! )

I used to have a linen roll British WWII Hussif dated 1942, now since the contents have grown, I carry a small Sistema container with all my bits n' bobs.

Yeah that looks pretty tidy. though I think I'd struggle with cold fingers, hence the pre threaded needle!

Bump.. I should have added to the thread (pardon the pun) clear duct tape the British Forces are held together by this tape, instant multi use for running repairs.

I second that , gaffer tape and zip ties... that's the extent of my sewing ability.

in a small pouch in my haversack - which is kept in my work truck constantly i carry a nice little sewing kit, which iv used far more than most other bits of kits i carry.... fairly simple.. a couple of different colored spools of thread, small scissors, assorted small needles, 2 sail needles, thimble etc... i use it alot. would be lost without it..

Its always a good idea to carry some Beeswax. If you run the thread through it, it makes it more durable and if your sewing a waterproof it adds to that as well.
