    GAW to Woody Junior

    hello,
It's more of a GAW to forum member "Woody" who's son has shown a keen interest in TGO Bushcraft. So I've sent a few items to get him started in Bushcraft. I've mailed Woody (daddy) the packet which should arrive pending Padraig Post (Royal Mail) Tuesday 26th April or Wednesday 27th April at the latest. A signature is required on arrival. NBCUK forum member "Greenbear" sent me a nodule of Iron Pyrites (fools gold) for my FSK. Soon after receiving this gift, I was given a few more nodules from my "stone kicker" friends in Glasgow having known I was looking for such. "Greenbear" PM'd me to say that he did not wish anything in return, so I thought why not share some of the NBCUK community forum karma with one of our up & coming forum members "Woody" junior.. Thanks again "Greenbear" for your gift I have it in my FSK tin shews sparks no problem. I haven't forgot this endeavour, if there is anything I can do in return just say.
    Regards
    David

This is not the first time , as you can all see from this post a few weeks ago...

    http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/fo...d.php?p=132725

But karma is karma and what goes around will come around...
That is just a small part of what makes this community great.
Sharing experiences, sharing ideas and sometimes gifts too...

Anybody here need any flint, please do let me know.
I can get tons of the stuff down here...
Mostly dark grey to black .
Good for striking steel , fire starting , the old fashioned way...

I suppose just as good for knapping and making primitive sharps.
Will Lord is a good starting point for anyone interested in flint and it's uses.

    ...Back on track,
David your generosity is an inspiration and it will not be forgotten.
Anything I can get for you ,let us know...

Jr loves telling the story how a cool guy from Scotland gave him his super steel, for some flint we collected one afternoon...

None of his buddies ever seen a steel like that, let alone use one...

The truth is , another lesson has been learnt between the lines...
One of generosity and of virtue.

Sometimes we forget that there are lots of people out there , that like nothing more than helping or making others smile.

The wee man will most likely remember and treasure that steel and its story forever .
    And so will I.
    Thank you David

    hello,
I'm blushing now Woody.. the thanks is knowing a young Bushcrafter is actually going out & participating in the activity. Neil Oliver "A History of Ancient Britain" should still be on BBC iPlayer. Will Lord appears in an episode flint knapping making arrows/flint heads & shooting a longbow into a hank of meat suspended from a A frame.
    Regards
    David

Thanks David , I'll look that up.
Will Lord is very talented and got a big heart! He runs workshops regularly and visits most Bushcraft shows gatherings to showcase and get people involved.

But then again, you wouldn't expect anything less from John Lord's Clan.
Yes , the same John who tought at Ray Mears's school of primitive technology and ancient skills.
Here is a link for a bit more detail.

    Wow! What can I say...
    David , what a guy!
I just received a package in the post for me and little woody Jr.

So much stuff , I can't believe it.
All Top of the range stuff, brand new in the box and really useful stuff!

I'm not sure if I should list all the stuff here as I don't know if David would rather I didn't...

All i can i say is a big thank you!!!This is an amazing gift, it's like Christmas again here...

I can't even begin to explain my little boys face , when I told him that's all for him...
(Although I might have to "test" some of that stuff before I let him loose on all of it. )

I now need to try and convince David to accept a donation

    Thank you David!
