    Life below zero

    Loving this show!
On most nights , on UK freeview 42 ( travel channel) or Nat Geo.
    Is anyone here watching it?
Quite a few of Ray Mears old shows too on this channel ...
We don't watch much TV , kids do sometimes...
But I do like this channel.

I've watched it but can't believe just how dependent they are on petrol, no petrol = no chain saws/4x4's/ boats/skidoos/light/heating et al.

'Alone' season 2 is out, first season was bad enough so I'll give it a miss.

Very true actually, hadn't thought about it like that.
There is that geezer however, the one that lives out on his own..
The only mechanised thing he owns is his rifle and that crank hand operated washing machine....
No petrol there... Axes , saws and knives.
All heating from wood... Light from home made candles out of caribou fat and jute/twine or some natural cordage material...

The truth of the matter is, so are we unfortunately. (Petrol/diesel dependent).
No petrol/diesel = no car, no food on supermarket shelves, quickly ensued by panic buying, animosity, riots and God knows what else..
I do feel however that they are much better prepared and self reliant than most of us here, at least their environment is ...
You have to admire the Hailstone family ( lady Eskimo family ) and how the Innuit tradition is being passed on to their young uns... At least on camera ( says my cynical alter ego)..

Never seen "Alone" , is it rubbish then? Fake?

    hello,
I've been following Life Below Zero (Travel Channel 42). Aye Sue Aikens I've chatted online with Sue. The coldest I've experienced is minus -33 to minus -34C. The next time you complain about the cold just think about Life Below Zero..
    Regards

    hello,
Sue Aikens & Glenn Villeneuve I've chatted with. I'd like to chat with Andy & Kate Bassich, Chip & Agnes Hailstone. It would be awesome if they were members of our NBCUK forum LOL Good luck with your prep/readiness for an Arctic camp next year. Please feel free to add any details, it would be of interest to forum members.
    Regards
