    Wool Blankets

I have aquired a couple of blankets which im told are 100% wool. How can i tell? There are no markings or labels - they were ex-sealed knot blankets. Ta

Dip one corner in water, let it draw the water up-it will smell if its wool

The itch factor (back of neck, inner arm, etc) is another way, as well as the weight. Final test I have done is hold a match to a hidden peice of the wool, even just a corner, and see if it burns or if it barely catches the flame. When you take the fire away, the char will go out instantly, and will smell of burnt hair. Lol

    1 - weightwise its heavy

2 - Itch factor about 7/10 - does this mean its 70% wool and 30% cotton?

3 - Fire test went ok - they are not fireblankets tho eh?

4 - i didnt dip it in water cos it already smells...

Seriously tho - seems to tick the wool test boxes. ta

    Sounds like wool to me.

BTW, I read a while back that fire blankets are often made of wool.
