Dad and lad goes ice fishing

It was the day of the annual family day arranged by the local angling club, and since S.W.M.B.O is off visiting her mother I took the lad alone, for some lad and dad time on the ice.

Here the little runt is busy trying to catch lunch in the form of an arctic trout...sadly we only got one tiny finger sized trout, which we let go again to much pomp and ceremony.

While dad did his best with his home crafted pilking stick...

The runt got bored and took a break checking if his scout knife is still up to the task.

We finished our day on the nature quiz trail. On ten posts the kids where tasked with identifying various wildlife, insects and fish :-)

Here the runt is busy trying to figure out if the picture shows a Reindeer, a deer or a moose... he scored 10 out of ten and got a free hot dog that he had to barbecue himself, and a diploma for the wall :-)

A good day spent out on the lake and on it's shore :-)

Defeat is an absolute consequense for the one that have neglected to do the necessary preparations - bad luck we call it
