The reason i have been AWOL can pretty well be summed up with work and the fact that half of my bloody country has been continuously on fire since well before Christmas. Seems to be slowing down now, so i guess we'll see how much more time i have on my hands!

A very long time ago I was on a merchant ship bound for Fremantle Western Australia. Coming on watch at 04.00 hrs I saw a strange flickering glow on the horizon. As a complete sprog I said "What's that?" to the older AB that I was relieving on lookout. He said " It's Australia son, the place is on fire again"....
