I doubt that loo roles would work as the beeswax would saturate the card - much better with plastic tube

That's that's a good point. It would probably make them inseparable from the moulds.

Could be lined with cling film or a bit of old carrier bag. I'd be trying to use stuff I had kicking about before buying some new plastic.
but the plastic pipe option sounds like the cleanest and least faff.

Cardboard tubes or rolled paper works fine ... you just have to seal it with paint or varnish first then the wax wont stick !!!

    Here's some big bamboo ...

    https://www.ukbamboo.com/big-bamboo-poles.html

but rough internal surface and the septa would mean having to split each candle out ... seems wasteful hey !?!?

Originally "dipped candles" were made by having your molten wax in a tall container and alternately dipping and cooling the dipped wick , gradually building up layers of wax , until the desired thickness was reached ...

    thanks for the info whistle!

that bamboo looks like what i imagining originally.. but as you say wasteful if only able to use once. i was hoping i could cut maybe 3/4 of the way down.. wrap the outside with tape or somthing so it was solid, pour wax and when set i could remove tape and split open to get the candle out, with the mould able to be reused.. but not sure if that would work with bamboo?

perhaps loo roll and grease proof paper is the way forward !

    thanks guys
