    Red face Save the Arctic

Save the Arctic | IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD
    YOUR COMMITMENT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
The oil company Shell has decided, for now, to give up exploiting the Arctic. Citizen mobilization has been a decisive factor in the decision. Together we managed to tip the balance on the safe side!
Shell had billions of dollars and an army of lawyers. But it was not counting the millions of citizens who made her dam. Renunciation Shell is a victory for the Arctic, and a sign of hope. More good news: the Obama administration suspended the permits for oil exploration in US waters in the Arctic until 2017.
But the Arctic continues to face multiple threats: oil drilling, seismic, industrial fishing, climate change … The region is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet. There is no time to lose. We must ensure SUSTAINABLE PROTECTION and Arctic PERMANENT. For that, we need you.

Congratulations with Shell. So what are the plans for Russia? After all they have massive oil and gas operations in the arctic, and do not stop to care a second for the environment.
Victory awaits the one, that has everything in order - luck we call it
Defeat is an absolute consequense for the one that have neglected to do the necessary preparations - bad luck we call it

    Support from what people?
The russians don't care what foreigners think about their policies. And the the Putin regime is throwing every environmentalist that dares to raise a voice in prison, and forces every NGO that recieves funds from abroad to register as foreign agents. So most NGO's have given up and are closing their offices in Russia.

But if you want to take out big oil in the arctic, go for the Russians. I suggest you start with Gazprom. Just be warned, when the last time Green Peace tried a protest, they where arrested and charged with piracy.

When it comes to Shell...it was the current oil prices that shelved their bid for Arctic drilling, not protests...
