    Smile Hi from South Africa

Hi from South Africa. My main interest is cutting tools but love any thing to do with the great outdoors. I was in the UK recently and enjoyed my stay very much. Thanks!

Hi Bernie. Great stuff. From Johannesburg. Not the greatist place in the world. Almost a war zone with all the crime here unfortunately. Know the "Howzit" very well thanks!I did my national service in the SA Navy. Simonstown then SAS President Steyn, trip to France and all that. I enjoy the bushcraft scene very much and wish I could practice more.

Thanks again for the welcome! Chat again soon.

    When were you in Simonstown?
Only I spent four years there fixing the big guns on surface craft, before transferring to subs!

Hi Nigel. A long way back. 1971-1972. Basics in Saldana Bay then Simonstown for TAS (Torpedo/Anti sub) course then onto SAS Preident Steyn. We were escort vessel for the last sub SA bought from France. Really nice trip. Our ship had the big 4.5" main guns. We worked on Anti Sub mortar, Wasp helicopter & Sonar. What dividion were you on the sub? Sorry chaps this is not much to do about bushcraft is it!

Weapons, spent a lot of time in the lateral well (not the most comfortable of places)
send me a PM and we can chat some more, our colleagues on this site will find most of this confusing to say the least and to be fair to them it is not bushcraft related.
