    Wood Finishes?

As a relatively inexperienced woodworker I am still experimenting with different finishes. I am currently using 2-3 coats of Wilko Danish Oil but am curious as to what other people use? I have included a image of a recently finished slingshot that has 2 coats of Danish oil. Click image for larger version.

I normally use either mineral oil or olive oil. Both are readily available and inexpensive and suitable for food-grade items. For axe helves and other tool handles, I use raw linseed oil. When I want a darker tone, I'll apply some Restor-and-Finish walnut stain followed by a coat or two of the linseed oil.

    hello,
I was just looking at wood for catapults earlier. That's a fine catty you have there. I use at present Wheatgerm Oil from Holland & Barrett stores.

For food use (Kuksa's & Spoons) I use 100% Tung Oil. Tool handles get boiled linseed oil.
