    ian c it's a long process BTW between extracting preparation of the natural materials pine needles & nettles then the actual manufacturing process. My friends made this on numerous occasions I've only dabbled past & present. I've found a similar way to produce soap http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Your-Own-Soap the recipe we used came from an old book. I'm trying to engage in a different Bushcraft learning curve or hone skills each day/week through the coming months.

    It's fairly straightforward to calculate your own recipes by using one of the online calculators. Google for "soap calculator". Soapcalc works fine. I constructed my own spreadsheet many years ago which does the same thing.

    Making soap isn't difficult but it does require some care because lye can burn badly if you handle it wrongly.

    http://www.millersoap.com/ is pretty good for lots of information and methods.
