    Unknown Bracket Fungus...

    OK gents and ladies, I found this earlier in the week growing on a dead, rotten Scarlet Oak. I'm at a loss for an ID, so give me your input .

    Looks like a Ganoderma to me.

    Would it be a good fungus to carry an ember with, I wonder?

    If it is a ganoderma then the best thing to do with it, when nice and fresh, is this:
