    I made a knife

Hi all, new to the forum. Have done a quick intro in the relevant section and thought this might be a good first proper thread. My 14 year old sone is studying engineering at a specialist academy and decided he wanted to make knives. I have been helping and offering bits of fatherly 'advice' but mainly left him to it. Anyway it got me thinking maybe I could make one for myself. In the bottom of an old toolbox I found a very old, Sheffield made heavy duty skew chisel, this became my blade. A week of grinding, sanding, heat treating, tempering etc later and it was time to find a handle. While following the missus around pets at home I came accross some antlers being sold as dog chews. Bought and used.

A handle made out of a dog chew? That's a first! If it works why not eh? Keep away from small children...and peckish mutts hehe

    Looks very nice
