Just wondering, does the fact that these are sold as self defence automatically make them illegal (in uk)?

The fact they are fixed blades (even though they are tiny) automatically makes them illegal to carry in the UK. If they were designed purely for self defense, or other aggressive activities/actions, then they would fall into the same category as flick knives and butterfly knives, making them illegal to own.
I imagine if they become very popular, they may be added to the banned list, rather than the restricted list.

What I was thinking was that carrying a fixed blade can, under the right circumstances be legally justifiable whereas carrying a blade for self defence cannot. so it would be better to carry a fixed blade in any circumstance where you may need one.

That makes sense. They are less likely to class it as a concealed weapon too, if there is such an offence in the UK legal system.

Not sure about concealed, but 'stealth knives' are mentioned in the offensive weapons act. anything that is designed to look like something other than a knife. This might be interpreted as such.
