Had first overnighter on Exmoor and tried out hanging the hammock from a new rig on the car.
I re-used a safety belt from a scrapped car - converted the one end into a sewn loop used some protective sleeves for paintwork. It worked fine.

Only thing I have to remember is that the car suspensions sinks a little when I get in, so have to have it tight to begin with.
I love sleeping in a hammock!
I know, there is nothing like a night in a hammock, I have slept on rocks 'n' roots a couple of times in the last 5-6 yrs but it wasnt by choice. I could not go back to it now. I quickly made a pair of tree huggers from an old seat belt a couple of years back when I couldnt find my webbing ones I'de made and they worked great. I know what you mean and there is something about waking up under a tarp that makes me feel that bit closer to nature.
