    DEFRA's Lead ammunition Group

Are soon to announce its findings into the supposed risks to wildlife and human health, from lead ammunition.

Some good News...The Norwegian Goverment has just voted to repeal its law on the use of lead shot for live quarry hunting outside wetlands.
Reason for the repeal included the absence of new evidence on lead shot and the misinterpretation of evidence by those advocating the ban.

Interesting: I've recently had a) a Grebe and b) a Swan, both had died from ingesting lead shot; presumably discarded by Fisherpeople
This was verified at autopsy by the RSPCA

    - and yes, I do go shooting, both Shotgun and rifle

Don't dispute they pick up some of the larger ledgers etc, thinking its gravel n grind their food with it,,in their gizzard.
I do dispute that there are as many supposed deaths by ingested Lead Shot.???as suggested....n so does the Norwegian Goverment....

Lead shot that is used by fisherman has been banned for over 20 years. Nowadays its a safer alternative due to the reasons of poisoning.

    Agree with both of you.

Ledger weights for sea fishing are not banned, this is only for fresh water fishing where the same alternative safe leads are available.

I've seen the rubbish both sea and fresh fisherman leave on the bankside and it disgusts me. They are not real fisherman, they are just a sad excuse that take out a rod and line.
