    Survival Skills badge's Victorinox sponsorship.

I have been helping the corporate dept at Gilwell for some months with the sponsorship by Victorinox of Scout section's Survival Skills badge. Whilst I wasn't involved in all parts of the decision making I'm pleased I was on board to at least influence the bits I had access to. There's more than meets the eye in terms of work!

I suppose that the biggest problem that comes out of all this, is that these have "folding" blades to satisfy current legislation.
I'm quite sure that I wouldn't want/have wanted any child of mine using a "folder" for the obvious reasons.

Having said all that, I have always had the smallest (the Executive?) knife where ever I've traveled and wouldn't be without it.

Great post and many thanks for sharing

Isn't it nice when someone says "that's a great piece of kit, where did you buy that", then you can modestly reply "you can't buy it, I made it myself". The moral is, it's amazing what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.

Use a SVORD Peasants Knife,ie friction lock.!Best of both worlds.
They often need a little trimming(near the hinge.),To make 100% legal "cutting edge.
