The wardens don't cull the herd themselves?...
Not when you can get a rich person to pay a fortune to do it !

I know that is the policy in a lot of Game Parks

    - it's just that I quite like Giraffes and don't really see them as a major threat to Life and Limb - also, they are becoming an endangered species and on that basis, I would seriously question the validity of killing them
Only my dog can judge me

Not something I would personally choose to do.

But just because I don't like something, I don't automatically believe we should ban it. That route leads to totalitarianism.

It also lead to the UK's stupid knee jerk firearms legislation.

Species like this are not just randomly shot, they are properly managed and culled.

Some of these posts smack of the limp wristed attitude that anti hunt sabs have. On a bush craft forum people should know better

Better that these animals are shot by a rich dude with at least some rudimentary hunting ethics, who pays as much as they dare charge him for the privelege. money that pays for the protection of the rest of the Girafes from poachers who would just mow the whole herd down with an AK-47 to take whatever body part is valauable to sell on the black market, while leaving the carcass to rot (well the hyenas and vultures would get their part I suppose).
Victory awaits the one, that has everything in order - luck we call it
Defeat is an absolute consequense for the one that have neglected to do the necessary preparations - bad luck we call it

I can definitely agree to that.
