i recently finished my new toy too
n690 steel trapper with black micarta and red scales
(ignore the crappily made sheath)
i may shape the scales a little more to get a nicer pattern on them...
i chose micarta over curly birch as its more weather resistant
i originally wanted the D2 trapper but my guy was out of stock so rather than wait i ended up going for n690...
(wanted something 60+ hrc)
01 wasnt enough neither was s30v at a hrc of 57-60
d2 was 60-62 hrc and the n690 is around 59-61 according to google...
good to see you chose the scandi grind... i like the scandi grind

Blade is o1 steel from moonraker knives the handle is american white oak ,not stabilised at all just have had it lying around the garage from a project a couple of years ago
we just need d2 and s30v trapper owners and we can test which is the best steel
i think its also available in another steel... sandvik steel or something
Very nice. I have a flat grind and a scandi grind. Both in D2 with white micarta scales. They look amazing. I remember seeing the Dozier website and thinking I want one, then seeing this kit at Heinnie and in D2. Had to have one of each grind. I've acid etched the blades to make them look more tool like and they are just perfect.

. White Oak is a great wood for handles and scales, very nice grain and growth ring patterns.
