    Wowser, these carvings are amazing. How long have you been doing them and how many did you have to do before you felt confident in doing them to this standard?

    Lost for words; these really are wonderful. A skill I wish I had. Maybe I should just keep trying?

    Holy smoke those are awesome!!, a true work of art.

    Well that's it I might as well throw my knives away as I have seen excellence and can never acheive it.....but I'm going to have a damn good try.

    hi Jacob and thank you, just a simple wood stain then a couple of coats of boiled linseed oil does the trick, but a regular anointing helps.

    thanks fellas, feeling humbled here. and thank you Bernie, about 4/5 years now? i love doing these miserable old gits! and tarheelbrit absolutely keep carving! they become a bit easier each time i promise you my first efforts were rough! but i kept at it. there are some superb carvers out there and i still strive for 'the one' that makes me ok with it. and dont forget to post up your results! once again thank you all for your great comments on this friendly site, hopefully see you around a fire sometime

    don't mean to spam this lovely site with my stuff, but just thought you might like to see these i completed recently for a lady up in the highlands, both stand 18" x a shade under 2" Rowan and Cherry stained oiled and roaming the glens!
