Reccomendations for a portable knife sharpner?

    I already own this...

But how would something like this compare for sharpening my Mora companion in field?

What kind of sharpener is the bottom link? Are they better or worse than grindstones?

I would not use that second one at all. I would just get a smaller sharpening stone.

What's wrong with the second one and those of that type? Do those sharpeners have a particular name? I do have a small stone but Im looking for a more quicker way of sharpening my knife in field.

I don't like the second type either. You have no choice about the angle and some don't disassemble for cleaning. I don't think they're any good for scandi grinds either (someone more knowledgeable please confirm or otherwise)

They never have the same angle as the knife, and will put a secondary bevel on it....which takes a lot of work.

If you want something light weight to touch up your knife, just bring som fine sanding paper...

Correct about the scandi grind and lack of angle choice. That second option would put a secondary or micro bevel on your Mora which is not what they were designed as.

i only ever use a stone, easier to see the grind and light enough to carry. Rune and Jus are bang on the money pal.

Hadn't noticed myself and Rune posting at the same time. Great minds think alike 😊
