No ... not R2D2 ... no beeps or whistles and not a silicon chip in sight !!!

Just a very useful Stove or Hob top Oven ...

Not very " Bushcrafty " I know , but part of being prepared in case of two weeks of

power cuts , flooding , and vicious storms like we had last Christmas ...

Unfortunately plans to open up a fireplace with a multifuel fire grate wont be possible ...

Insufficient draft and too small a space put paid to that ... but hey !!!

3 at the local bootie and it'll cook us a medium to large chicken ,

roast a few spuds , parsnips and some stuffing ... Sounds like Xmas to me !!!

If the power does go out our gas hob won't work but we have a few Camping gas stoves ,

PBO review of a similar oven used an Orio alcohol stove , so could always bung a Trangia

or White box alc burner under it , though I would worry about tainting the food !!!

The base ... showing the flame aperture ...

It is made of good sturdy 2-3 mm thick aluminium and is well anodised ...

Showing the two heat transfer plates fitted ,

they convert the flames into radiant and convected heat energy...

The glass lid is made by Schott ... It allows easy visualization of the cooking process ...

You can also see one of the two slots to allow steam / heat to escape ...

I would be interested to hear if anyone else has ever seen or used a similar type of oven ...

I have used it to re-heat some Croissants and the front mounted temperature gauge

seemed to work well enough , though how accurate it is I couldn't guess !!!

Next step will be to try some bannock in it ...

Bit heavy and bulky for backpacking , but could be useful on a car camp !!!

    Hi Big T
If you still want at stove like Whistle's I have one!
It looks totally new apart from the heat plate which shows signs of having been heated.

    Cheers,
    Skoda

Hey Skoda where on earth did you find it ?!?!

Have not seen another like it anywhere ...

Nice to have one in good condition !!!

I tried cooking a roast dinner in mine ... it took a long time but cooks ok ...

Cleanup took quite a while though ...

another time I'll use diposable ally dishes and cover everything in foil ...

save splatter getting baked onto everything !!!

    Cheers Whistle

    Hey Whistle,

I found it in my mum's attic - she was a keen camper and loved all the gadgets.
I was researching it for an Ebay listing and came across your great description!
If you know anyone who wants one let me know…

    Cheers, Skoda

    Hi Skoda

Wow A family heirloom !!! Naaah sorry Skoda ...

I know BigT was interested but if he hasn't responded ... well ...

Shame you don't know where it came from , I had wondered if it was French ...

Being in the southeast and close to the Ferry ports I thought that perhaps someone

had imported it from abroard or brought it back to UK from a holiday or daytrip !?!?

Good Luck with your E bay listing

    All the best Cheers Whistle
