Right now we have 23 cm of fresh snow from a passing storm, and still counting...

Dartmoor was a bit chilly on Sunday.
The wind was so intense that standing still on exposed ground was difficult. I either had to lean into the wind or step one way of the other when gusts came and went. I reckon it was 40~50mph, possibly more.
Just come through Dartmoor and it is looking pretty spectacular in its winter coat. More snow now falling
Back from today's snowshoeing walk...
Let is snow, let is snow, let is snow .
Ahhh, fresh powder .
Second-growth White Oak weathering the snow as it has done for over a century.
A grove of Red Pines bending in the wind. Somewhere one of the canopies is the home of a Red-tailed Hawk.
Norway Spruces and Canada Hemlocks, well adapted to these conditions. Younger trees have upward pointing branches, though as they age, their branches will point down after years of winter snows weighing them down.

I've just come back from an evening with a friend who owns an 8" telescope and has the connections for his DSLR camera. I'll post more photos in the Over the moon thread on SOTP but I thought at least one or two belonged here. I planned this evening almost a week ago when I saw we had clear skies and full moon forecast.
Isn't She beautiful...
