New axe for splitting firewood. I've not seen one before. It's quite pricey but this may be of interest to some-one.

It's a nice idea but limited to one purpose.

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.(Benjamin Franklin)
Interesting design...but I notice that you would have to adjust your aim a little because the helve isn't in line with the bit. And it also appears that the axe would be a little off-balanced due to being heavier on one side.
Then again, these are just the things I see, never having picked up one of these and testing it out in person .

Dont like if i like the idea of 'loosening your grip' when swinging an axe at a piece of wood. I also am interested in how it would tackle knotted wood easier than a conventional axe...

Good link happybonzo,
I must confess, I know nothing about axes, but to me it seems like sour grapes from Robin Wood.
He's not actually tested the axe and I think that perhaps in order to add credence to his comments perhaps some sort of comparison under test conditions could be made.
As someone who devotes his life to his craft, surely he can appreciate something that has been in the pipeline for circa 10 years, maybe more. This was a prototype axe in 2005 so it doesn't appear to me to be just a cheap gimmick.
That said, I do reiterate I know absolutely nothing about axes, however, I know enough to know that a product should be judged on merit and not on 30 years experience of using something else.
