Show leniency towards Marine A

On December 6, Marine A is to be sentenced by a Court Martial Board for the brutal murder of a Taliban captive. His conviction is the first time a British serviceman has been found guilty of murder during the Afghan conflict. The Telegraph is calling for leniency in the sentence handed down to Marine A. Two other Marines, B and C, alleged to have been "party to the killing" were acquitted following a two-and-a-half week hearing which ended last week. While in no way condoning the murder of the captive, the Telegraph believes this case needs to be seen in context of the terrible mental strain our battle-hardened troops have been, and continue to be, subjected to in Afghanistan – a conflict that, since 2001, has claimed 446 British lives and inflicted horrific injuries on many hundreds more.

Agreeable to lenience but not to getting off - as much as I understand his reasoning especially as a veteran, he knew better deep down as a booty

You teach people to kill, pay them to kill but then get mad when they kill...

kill these people when they do this, but if they do that don't kill them now no mater what.

He deserves a lessened sentence due to the pressures they are under, but we are better than the men we fight against and pride ourselves on that. At that time, on that day, we weren't.

Thanks for the support & comments appreciate only requires '55' signatures at time of writing. I agree with what is said IMHO like any of HM Armed Forces Regt etc.. Marine A serves his time in the Glasshouse, re-do Marine Training, Battle Stripes, & Arctic Warfare CADRE put his fait in his own hands fail then Platform 13 to Civie Street 'sound fair?'

A quote from colonel Collins. " be ferocious in battle, but magnanimous in victory". It was battle, his blood was surely up. As a former Bootneck he gets my support unreservedly, he shouldn't be a scape goat, a statistic or a victim of appeasing tense racial relations to hasten the process of demilitarisation in a conflict we have been the brunt of professionalism critique.
He deserves a pardon for services rendered and fully supported upon his obvious imminent release of duties.
