Isn't it nice when someone says "that's a great piece of kit, where did you buy that", then you can modestly reply "you can't buy it, I made it myself". The moral is, it's amazing what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.

Ash is a nice wood and very strong i have i piece that has been drying out ready for making a handle for a old axe head i have, by the way some nice pictures
Thanks, that's only about 10 minutes walk from my house, there's great fishing for sea trout and salmon where that's taken. I do like ash for shafts, not as pretty as hazel, the bark has a tendency to get loose when it's being seasoned. However these are for some thumbsticks which I might strip and van dyke stain them (but I have 2 years too make my mind up)
