I use a knife as well as the wheel cutter, the wheel I think is better for long runs and you push it away from you, with a knife on thin leather I fined it puckers up a bit when pulling the blade.

Love it, Tony. Thanks for the share.

Is that leather piece you used one of those samples you might see in a furniture store by a new leather sofa to show the different colors available? I used to work in one and came away with an arm-full of those kind of pieces when they'd replace old samples. Looks like a perfect project for some of them.

    Thanks!

    Josh

. No Josh this leather was part of a sofa that Mat from the inside the 25 club was throwing away.

Gotcha. Same sort of stuff, though, right? Either way free is good!

    Hey guys,
instead of creating a new thread I think I'd rather add to this existing one. I finally had some time to do some leatherwork again and wanted try a kind of balloon shaped bottom pouch instead of the kind of barrel bag bottom. I found a pattern on the internet which I adapted to my liking and then transferred to the leather. Stitched up easier than I thought it would especially the pointy ends at the bottom. Then I punched the holes for the draw string and used a round shoelace for the string. I attached a belt loop on the inside of the pouch but deep enough to be able to fold the lip over. That way the pouch stays open better if you frequently need something from the pouch (slingshot ammo, bait or if you are snacking away at something). The pouch could also be real handy if you are setting up something and have a ball of string or cordage. The end of the string peeking out the pouch giving easy deployment of cordage without having the entire cord getting into a mess.
