That is truly one of the most awesome phenomena on this planet Rune, Its still on my bucket list and 2 great pics of it, thanks for posting. Is there any month more favourable to see it, only a mate of mine went to Iceland for 3 wks to see it and came home disapointed. atb Ken

You can see the Aurora from when the nights starts to get dark really. The autumn up to christmass is nice. But the weather tends to be very unstable, with lots of clouds. There is more chances of clear skies in January/february/March as the wather tend to stabilize with clear then.

stunning photo's,i have only seen it once and it was here in the isle of man about ten years ago if not longer,looked exactly as your pics,we dont suffer from light pollution here which made it all the more stunning.
i have heard when it is really strong you can sometimes here a crackling/tinkling sound,have you ever excperianced this or is it just a myth...atb kev
