it was what my parents did in the 50s only it wasn't called prepping then it was called common sense!!
Still called common sense as far as I'm concerned, but I'm sure my younger cousins will have some acronym for it ......... #POAT (power out again Tonight)

Isn't it nice when someone says "that's a great piece of kit, where did you buy that", then you can modestly reply "you can't buy it, I made it myself". The moral is, it's amazing what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.

The original posting date and date of the last post are on every thread easy to spot how old the thread is...remark was made on another thread of a similar vintage early on in your posting history
