    gas bottle

Ok so ive been given a couple gas bottles which ive now got all the pressure out of.

Im having a bit of trouble removing the valve on top.
It has a white paste on the thread which I guess is to stop them coming out.
So has any one got any ideas or is it just brute force.

Also which way are they threaded im sure I read some where they are opposite?

    Cheers in advance

Best way is to cut it off with a hacksaw, as its brass it won't cause any sparks! Then fill the bottle with water and leave for a day or so. I have made loads of gas bottle chimineas and have never had a prob. Of course you do this at your own risk!

What he said - that's the way I did it too when I made a BBQ with one (cut vertically in half once filled with water).
