    Vintage Pack Refurbish

This is my first post on the forum(apart from my intro), so I thought I'd show something recent.

I was lucky enough to find myself a vintage Diamond Brand 1329 Deluxe Scout Pack at a local garage sale. The canvas was in great shape but the leather straps and buckle loops were dry and crumbly.

I set to work refurbishing it with veg tan leather left over from a past project.

The canvas was so thick that it stood up without anything in it

The straps were so dry that they just crumbled in my hands

The pack only had 3 D-rings on each side so, together with some rivets, I bought another 6 so that I could side lash items if I needed.

I'm pretty happy with the results and have now taken it out on several multi day trips. It weighs around 750grams so is light but has the volume for 3 day hikes.

I'm just realising that the number of picture uploads is limited so unfortunately I can't show you the finished piece. Apologies for that. I'll work my way around the forum eventually.

The pack can be seen in detail in one of my tube vids.
