    Tinder/survival tin cases/pouches

    hey hey

Found a leather jacket thats been sat about in a cupboard for time, so i skinned it and got some fairly nice bits out of it.
After getting fed up with my man made nylon cases that i was using to store my tinder & survival tins in fraying up or tearing, i sat down and drew up some designs for a few cases that i could wear on my belt, nothing amazing as i'm still using simple tools

ID:	10166left pouch is for my tinder tin, hence why i left the flaps on the sides to go under the main flap, box wood toggles, left this one a loose fit for stashing some bark or other materials into the pouch with out having to remove the tin (damp tinder etc)

ID:	10167right side is my survival tin, bit of a tighter fit as i dont need the extra room, London plane toggles and brass eyelets, didn't know how to finish the edges off so i waxed the knots and the edges and then heated it to melt it into the leather to stiffen up the knots

ID:	10168 all they need is for a belt loop to be attached to the backs of them and they are done.

i have a few more projects that are in the pipe line for today so some more pics might follow later if i can be bothered to make them, if not it will be tomorrow.

Total cost so far is £1.50 for the tins (not including the contents) and 6 hours ish work

    cheers

It's great to have something you have made, just the job.

    hello,
That's what survival skills are all about, recycling what you have at hand.

That's good Madz, custom made. I like belt pouches for certain bits of kit.
