    DIY Walking stick/ camera monopod

I cut myself this walking stick from a rowan sapling in the spring last year. It served me well as a walking stick. And also as a monopod. I simply used an elastc band to fasten a tabletop tripod on top. later I used a clip with a camera mount, but it was proe to fall off. Then I found a hot shoe mount for a video light. And just drilled a hole in the top the stick, and hot glued a bolt in place. And mounted the cam on top. The camera light mount fits a camera too, and has a ball head and can be found on ebay :-)

Picttures in the post bellow. Anyway, it makes it easy to get a steady shot with the cam, and if you want to film yourself doing something, just drive the stic into the ground or snow :-)

    hello,
I like the idea. I was browsing the forum as I've just finished (assisted) making a walking stick & was thinking about adding an antler handle. Now seeing this I might add this feature to another stick I have drying saves on carrying the monopod for the camera

There is pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar, I love not man the less, but Nature more.

That on is in use on every trip. Briliant in snow or soft ground. Just plunge it in and it will stand. At least with a light cam like a goPro or a point-and shoot type of camera :-)
