    Thumbs up Knife making kits?

    How do All?!

    Having just started summer leave and finished my 1st project (my Shed!) and with my birthday fast approaching, SWMBO is asking what I want, I'd love to ask her to put me on the woodlore waiting list however, to make the most of Leave, the shed and my birthday, I thought maybe a kit to make my own knife would be a much better idea!

    With these things in mind, what are people's view on the kits ie is the steel good quality, ease of manufacture etc and secondly does anyone on here make the kits as I'd prefer one that's not mass produced!

    Got a week to go so ideally need to order soon!

    Cheers guys,

    Steve.

    Hi Steve.

    I could make you a kit mate, pretty much anything you wanted.

    Have a look on my website, see if there is anything you like. If not, i can make other stuff, in any steel.

    Something similar to the DPB 1 I think, how much would that be in a kit? To be fair if its too much for her to get me one I'm considering just buying one for myself anyway!

    Well for either of those blades in 3mm 01 would be £50, (£60 in 4mm) then its just a case of building it up, on my site (material and care section) there are a list of woods. The first section add £7 ( the free option is for a complete knife where the price is factored in) if you wanted one of those, the rest by the price stated. Liners add £2, the pins come free;

    I'm happy to put kits together too, just don't expect a scandi ground blade!

    I think for now I'll be looking at a Scandi ground blade just for more ease of care and its more what I'm used to using! I'll be bookmarking your site for future reference though!
