My 4.3" SS mug and lid came today, impressed its thin but not flimsy certainly tougher than plastic or ali and its good size to use to cook in. weighs 102gms with the lid and 81 gms without, all in all a good buy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2310826262...84.m1497.l2649

I got one of them...that is mine is an M98. And it's only the reciever that is left of it. As it been re-drilled into a 30-06 and fitted with a hunting stock and barrel.
A lot of the 400 000 rifles the Germans kindly donated to us in 1945 ended up that way :-)

.30-06 ammo was more readilly available after the war as that was what the army was using in their M1 rifles. After the army switched to 7.62 NATO a lot of the Maussers where re-built for that caliber...
Cheap ammo, as the army sponsored the shooting clubs with ammo.

Victory awaits the one, that has everything in order - luck we call it
Defeat is an absolute consequense for the one that have neglected to do the necessary preparations - bad luck we call it

I also have 98 in 7x64. The 8x57JS is actually an IS which stands for "Infantrie Stark" meaning infantry strong.
