In case you didn't get a manual with it

when we destroy something created by man we call it vandalism, but when we destroy something created by nature we call it progress.

I picked up one of those off ebay a few months back and was worried about the same thing. Then I realised that it NEVER gets as cold here as it does over your way, so the compass is unlikely to develop a bubble while I'm using it unless I go mountaineering in NZ.

The MOD must be clearing out all their old stores of those compasses - absolute bargain. The tritium on mine still glows.

I don't trust compasses any more... ideally I would have 3 brand new ones on me and triangulate the readings..

When I use them it's mostly to get a general -that-wayish-sort-of direction over short distances. F.eks in dense spruce forest. Else I just look at where I am...(on an island, so if I can see the sea, I know where I am :-)
Victory awaits the one, that has everything in order - luck we call it
Defeat is an absolute consequense for the one that have neglected to do the necessary preparations - bad luck we call it

I think they can develop a bubble at high altitude too. But I do mean high.

Check out (if you haven't already) Crawlingroad's Utube channel, some good vids on there.
It's not the cough that carries you off,

It's the coffin they carry you off in!
