Nice photos, something I must try, Derbyshire sounds just right - should be able to get a good one going...

I live on the border of 3 counties, West Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire/Greater Manchester...cheshire is only 11 miles away too...this is the problem we get EVERY year !! Its not funny when its crackling just 250m from your front door

You're lucky with that one Fish. Lots of roots in the soil there. Have been in locations similar to that and had the roots catch themselves. They smoulder for a good long time too, and can travel quite far along. We did have our fire burning for a couple days though, which increased the risks some what.

Word of warning though, be very careful lol.
