    They are designed for gas stoves really (as you're probably aware), but if full with water, they wouldn't melt. After all, you can boil water in a plastic bottle, paper cup, or even a paper bag. having said that, it may taste a little funny, like coffee from the silicone cups

    Not had any noticeable problems with taste when using mine.............
