Ian: Well, in fairness, she bought it with ulterior motives - we've got a fire pit for the garden, but the smoke always seems to follow her, plus she wanted something we could use when caravanning.
Got to say, i'd watched videos and read reviews of the Frontier stove, but regarded them with a bit of sceptism, a 10kg, easy to light stove capable of cooking and heating... But yeah...
Everything packs neatly inside it, and while its bulky, its not overly heavy to carry, it would be easy to carry a few hundred metres from a car to a campsite.
Lighting it is a breeze, the two times i've done so,I had a bed of shredded paper/card, with some fine batons on, one match, and the draw from the chimney makes it go up quickly, and once its going, it takes bigger chunks of wood without worry.
After an hour or so, it kicks out a LOT of heat, you can certainly feel it more than my firepit, and without the smoke blowing into your eyes thanks to the chimney.
Its size is deceptive, you can fit 2 frying pans on it, and you've got to make sure you've a big enough poker to keep the ash/wood from choking up and not burning at the back.
t takes a while to get a pan to warm up, but once it gets going, you can take it out of the cooking ring and move it to the back hot plate section and it'll keep on cooking without worry.
