    Great that you're out doing it but I would advise that the tap is bark free,
    Campfires are best shared with friends.

    Thanks tigger why should the tap be bark free? On the underside of the twig i did take the bark off and went down to the clean wood, you can't see it in the pics though.

    at a guess, the bark could/would contain bits of dirt, or other nasties.. stripping it off to the bare wood would make sure nothing tainted your sap.. or at least reduce the chances of it just a guess mind..

    I was always taught that before using wood for for stuff and cooking to strip it of bark to lessen the chance of bacteria, especially a sugery product which may be kept/stored for a while,
    Maybe a bit OCD but wouldn't hurt
    Campfires are best shared with friends.
