Victory awaits the one, that has everything in order - luck we call it
Defeat is an absolute consequense for the one that have neglected to do the necessary preparations - bad luck we call it

Love the sign EddieJ, so true!

Rune: frankly it's become really embarrasing how poorly folks in the UK are at dealing with snow, or more realistically sitting back and whining that 'THEY' haven't cleared the roads so they can drive like it's a sunny summers day.

A few years ago on the first day of snow after my son had started school, I drove him as usual and discovered on arrival that the school was closed due to the roads being impassable. All the more shocking when you realise that I'm one of those useless southerners you've been reading of earlier!

I live in a small village on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, the roads leading to the village have the passing places marked by signs atop 12 foot high poles, a fair indication that snow is a possability. Folks tend to move here from Leeds and other cities with their BMW's Mercedes etc and wonder why they're useless on summer tyres in winter. After their first winter here you can guarantee they'll have bought a 4X4, I wish they were forced to take a skid pan session and other appropriate instruction before they can drive their new precious away. The missis and I have Peugeots, hers a 106, mine a 307. We only stop driving when the snow is so deep that it's scrapping the underside of the vehicle. By that time there's usually only 4X4's being driven at stupid speeds for the conditions left on the roads anyway, and we want to stay clear of them.

There was a discussion on radio 2 earlier today about folks walking on the roads instead of icy paths, the usual setup with motorist v pedestrians arguing for supposed entertainment. The last caller being a pedestrian with the classic 'THEY' comment and a 'I'd happily pay extra tax to have the paths cleared'. Now, perhaps this is a bizarre idea, but maybe perchasing a pair those chains/studs which slip over shoes/boots might be money better spent.

So Rune, what's the immigration process like for Norway?
